Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a consultation?

Here’s what to expect: I’ll examine your hair, which will include measuring it to determine your length (which affects pricing). We’ll talk about your hair, its health, and your decision to pursue Sisterlocks. This is a time to get all your questions answered, so come ready with a few of them ready to go!
After the assessment is when the price will be determined. I do not give quotes over the phone, via e-mail, or through social media. I have to see your hair first, to provide a realistic estimate.

What are your booking policies?

Important: There is a $50, non-refundable consultation fee. Once a date is agreed upon, a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot. This is also non-refundable.

Cancellation fee: If your appointment is not canceled at least 24 hours ahead of time, there will be a $35 fee. This will be due at your next appointment.

Late Policy: The clock starts 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. Depending on lateness, we may need to reschedule your appointment. I will work on your hair for as long as I am able. If I am unable to finish, you will need to schedule a follow-up appointment so that your retightening can be completed.

What is the Establishment process?

The journey toward getting your Sisterlocks established begins with a consultation. I know you’re excited to get started, but this process is required and cannot be avoided.

Payment is due on the first day of the locking session. Payment must be in Cash or through Zelle. (Price is good for 60 days)
Come ready with your hair freshly washed (within 24 hours of your appointment time) and blow-dried.
Sessions usually last 10-12 hours. I recommend clearing your schedule with at least that amount of time, for the estimated number of days to complete your establishment. Establishments typically start early in the morning.

Tips for the best experience include:
Come dressed in comfortable clothing.
You’ll be responsible for your own entertainment, so please bring charged devices, chargers, headphones, or a good book.
Pack snacks that are convenient to open and consume.
A butt pillow is also a good idea.
There will be a break for lunch for at least 30 minutes, but not longer than one hour.

What's the difference between Sisterlocks and other loc styles?

"Sisterlocks" are interlocks that are trademarked and must be done a certain way. You can start your locks with two strand twist, comb coils, interlocks, instalocks. It just depends on your preference. Be sure to do your research to figure out what is right for you.

How long should my hair be to get my locks established?

You need to have at least 2 1/2 - 3 inches of hair to start your Sisterlocks.

Can you repeat a style I saw online?

Depending on the style, yes I may be able to. It also depends on the length and size of your locks if I am able to recreate the style.

If I have a scalp condition, can I still get Sisterlocks?

This will be determined during the consultation. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to see a dermatologist before we can move forward.

If I decide I don't want Sisterlocks anymore, can you take them down?

Technically, yes. However, I do not offer this service.
